Vollständiges türckisches Gesetz-Buch; oder, Des Ertz-beriegers Mhomets Alkoran (1688) is the German edition of Mahomets Alkoran = L'Alcoran de Mahomet (The Alcoran of Mahomet / 1658 Du Ryer / Glazemaker), book (Dutch ed.).

Abstract

The 1658 version of the Qur'an by Jan Hendrik Glazemaker was translated from Dutch into German by Johann Lange in 1688.

The second German translation of the Qur'an was also based on a modern translation--the Dutch edition by Jan Hendrik Glazemaker of the French translation by André Du Ryer. Johann Lange's translation had at least the advantage of going back more directly to the original Arabic, while the previous German translation by Salomon Schweigger (after the Italian of Andrea Arrivabene) derived from the Latin text by Robert of Ketton.

Editions

Published in Hamburg, Germany: Thomas von Wiering; and Franckfurth [Germany]: Zacharias Herteln, 1688.
