Die Geschichte der synoptischen Tradition <German> / The History of the Synoptic Tradition (1921) is a book by Rudolf Karl Bultmann.

Abstract

By focusing on the development of the oral tradition, Bultmann reached the conclusion that it was virtually impossible to reconstruct a biography of Jesus, as all the material on Jesus was created or reshaped by the Church. The Historical Jesus however is completely irrelevant for the Christian faith, which is based on the Eastern Kerygma.
