Biography

Zewe Weingarten was born October 28, 1940 in Rhodes, Greece [under Italian rule], to Slovak refugees Eugen Weingarten and Josephine Muller. Father and mother were among the passengers of the Pentcho Ship. They arrived at Rhodes on October 18-19, 1940 (a few days before Zewe's birth). After spending one year as refugees at Rhodes, they were then sent to Ferramonti on February 12, 1942, where Eva was born and the family remained until liberation (Sept 1943). In May 1944 the family emigrated to Palestine.
