Saverio Mercadante (1795-1870) was an Italian composer. Mercadante was born in Altamura [Italy] on September 17, 1795. He studied in Naples and from 1833 to 1840 was Kapellmeister in Novara. In 1840 he moved back to Naples as Director of the Conservatory, until his death on December 17, 1870.
