Robert of Ketton / Robertus Ketenensis (1110? – 1160?) was a British scholar, active in Spain. Born in a small village near Stamford, England, Robert of Ketton was educated in France, travelled extensively in the Middle East, and eventually settled in Spain. He became famous for his translation of scientific works from the Arabic. In 1142 he was commissioned by Peter the Venerable the first translation of the Qur'an into Latin, which became the standard version of the text in Europe until the 17th century.
