Biography

Sara (1940) and Reuven (1942) were the children of Saul Campagnano and Hulda Cassuto. After their father was arrested and sent to Auschwitz (where he perished), the mother and children were taken care of by members of the Italian underground. Reuven hid with a middle-aged couple, Amato and Letizia Billour, who treated the toddler like their own son. Hulda, Sara and cousin Susanna were hosted in a convent orphanage outside of Florence and in other different locations.

After the war Hulda moved to Palestine with her two children to reunite with her parents.
