Biography

Born in Rome in 1935 to Alberto Sonnino and Ester Moresco. Leone was the last of six siblings: Clelia, Mario, David, Liliana, Rachele and Leone. The family was arrested on 1 January 1944. Father, Mother, Mario and David were deported and murdered at Auschwitz. Leone and Liliana were saved by Enrico Bertoni who worked as an interpreter at Regina Coeli.
