Joachim Hirsch (M / Germany, 1937-1944), Holocaust victim

Biography

Joachim Hirsch was born on May 13, 1937 in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland). In May 1939 the family booked passage on the MS St. Louis hoping to land in Cuba. After the ship was sent back to Europe, the Steins went to Holland. Following the German invasion of the Netherlands, they were interned in Theresienstadt, until October 1944, when they were deported to Auschwitz. Joachim and his mother were gassed upon arrival. Kurt was 7 years old.
