Francis Schmidt (b.1939), scholar

Francis Schmidt (b.1939) is a French scholar. A student of Marc Philonenko, he earned his PhD (1971) at the University of Strasbourg. He was Professor of History of Judaism in the Hellenistic and Roman Periods at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, from 1972 until his retirement in 2006.
