Chaviva Blumenfeld (F / Slovakia / Serbia, 1940), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Chaviva Blumenfeld was born August 13, 1940 in Dobra, Yugoslavia, to Slovak refugees Emanuele Blumenfeld and Malwine Rosenberg. They were among the passengers of the Pentcho Ship. Chaviva was born the time the ship was stopped in the Yugoslavian village, before continuing its journey to Palestine. In October 1940 the ship sank and the refugees were brought by the Italians to KZ Rhodes. After one years, they were sent to Ferramonti, Italy on February 12, 1942, where the family was liberated in Sept 1943. They emigrated to Palestine in May 1944.
