Jonathan Maccabeus (2nd century BCE) was a member of the Hasmonean dynasty.

Overview

In 160 BCE Jonathan succeeded to his brother Judas Maccabeus) as leader of the rebellion against the Greeks. From 153 BCE he was appointed as High Priest, to his death in 142 BCE (followed by his brother Simon Maccabeus).
