Timo Veijola (1947-2005) was a Finnish scholar.

Biography

Timo Veijola was born on April 25, 1947 in Oulu, Finland.

After graduating from the Oulu Lyceum in 1966, Veijola studied theology at the University of Helsinki under Ilmari Soisalon-Soininen. He earned his master's degree in 1970 and was ordained in Oulu in the northern diocese of Finland. He undertook postgraduate studies in Göttingen [Germany] under the supervision of Rudolf Smend and Walther Zimmerli. He defended his doctoral thesis in 1975 at the University of Helsinki. In 1980 he was appointed Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at the University of Helsinki and in 1985 became a full professor of Old Testament Studies.

Veijola died on August 1, 2005 in Hyvinkää, Finland.
