Annius Rufus was the Roman governor of Judea, from 12 CE to 15 CE, under Emperors Augustus and Tiberius.
Overview
In 12 CE Augustus appointed Annius Rufus to succeed Marcus Ambivulus as the Roman Prefect of Judea. No noticeable event is recorded during Rufus' tenure, except the death of the Emperor in Rome in 14 CE. The following year, in 15 CE, the new Emperor Tiberius appointed Valerius Gratus to take Rufus' place.
