Henry Ossawa Tanner (1859-1937) was an African-American artist.
Biography
Tanner, who in 1894 moved to France to escape racial discrimination, was the first Afro-American painter to gain international acclaim.
Works on Second Temple Judaism
After spending eleven months in the Holy Land between 1897 and 1899, Tanner made several painting of biblical subject.
