Myles Coverdale (c.1487-1569) was a British scholar.

Biography

Clergyman, bishop of Exeter, 1551-53. Author of the first translation of the Bible in modern English, including the OT Apocrypha—the so-called Coverdale Bible (Antwerp 1535). His translations of the Apocrypha were also included in the Matthew Bible (Antwerp 1537).
