Antonio Scandello (M / Italy, Germany, 1517-1580), composer.

Born and educated in Bergamo, Italy, Scandello was active mostly in Germany. He worked as musician at the court of the Electors of Saxony in Dresden, serving since 1549 as court-bandmaster, and then since 1568 as Kapellmeister. He authored cantatas on subjects from the New Testament. His music combined elements of the Italian Renaissance with German musical traditions. Scandella died in 1580 in Dresden.
