Letzi Feige Sonnenschein (F / Austria, 1939), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Letzi Feige (Feiga Lizsl) Sonnerschein was born May 28, 1939 in Vienna, Austria. She was deported to Theresienstadt where she remained until Liberation in May 1945.

She came to the UK as part of the Windermere Childrenin August 1945, and was cared for in the Windermere reception centre. She was then in the Weir Courtney hostel in Surrey.

In the summer of 1946, she was taken by her uncle and aunt who told her they were her parents in order to protect their niece from the truth that her parents had been murdered in the Holocaust.
