Giovanni Battista Bassani (M / Italy, 1647-1716), composer

Born in Padua, Bassani studied in Venice and Ferrara. He was active mostly in Ferrara as maestro di cappella at the Accademia della Morte, and then since 1712 in Bergamo, until his death. He composed operas of secular content and oratorios on biblical subjects, including Il Giona (1689).
