Harry James Cargas (1932-1998) was an American novelist. Professor at Webster University's English Department. Scholar and devout Catholic, was highly respected in the Jewish community for his work on the Holocaust and his friendship with Elie Wiesel. His interests ranged widely. Taught English, History and Religion courses, led the Art Department for a time, and even served as athletic director in the late 1980s.
