Jan Matthys (1500-1534) was a Dutch Anabaptist and millenarist leader, who in 1534 claimed to be Enoch redivivus and established a theocratic kingdom at Munster, Germany. He died during the siege of the city, when on Easter Sunday made a sally forth with thirty followers, convinced that the Judgment Day had come.
