Emilio Gabba (1927-2013) was an Italian scholar. Born in Pavia, Italia on March 31, 1927, Gabba was Professor of Roman History at the University of Pisa and and then, from 1974, at the University of Pavia, until his retirement in 1996. His interests included aspects of social history of the Jews in the Roman Emplre. He contributed to vols. 2 and 3 of the Cambridge History of Judaism. From 1995 to 2005 he was director of the journal Rivista Storica Italiana. Gabba died on August 12, 2013 in Pavia, Italy.
