Walter Zwi Bacharach (Germany, 1928-2014), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Walter Zwi Bacharach was born Sept 7, 1928 in Hanau, Germany. The family fled to the Netherlands in 1938. In 1942 they were arrested and sent to Westerbork, Theresienstadt and Auschwitz. He survived the Death March from Auschwitz and was liberated by the Americans.

In 1946 he emigrated to Palestine. He became a scholar and historian of anti-Semitisma and the Holocaust at Bar-Ilan University.
