The Passover Plot is a film directed by Michael Campus.

Editions and translations

Produced in the United States (1976).

Summary

Based on Schonfield' work (1965). Jesus was a political leader who actually tried to overthrow Roman rule and fulfill the Jewish prophecy of the promised Messiah by making himself king of Israel. The finale has Christ drugged on the cross so that he appears to be dead, but the Passover plot is foiled when one of the Roman guards stabs him in the side before the body is claimed. Jesus dies after all but not before he is seen still alive after his crucifixion and burial, thus spreading the rumor of his resurrection.
