Salome (1907) is a sound recording of excerpts from Salome (1905 Strauss / Lachmann), opera, conducted by the composer Richard Strauss.
Abstract
First recordings of two brief excerpts from Richard Strauss's opera, from 1907. Emmy Destinn first performed Salome in Berlin on 5 December 1906, and then in Paris on 8 May 1907, with the composer conducting the orchestra. It was a stunning triumph.
