The Book of Jubilees; or, The Little Genesis (1902) is a book by Robert Henry Charles.

Abstract

New English translation of the Book of Jubilees based on all mss. and versions then available.

Charles argued that the Book of Jubilees was written in Hebrew sometime between 135-105 (during the reign of John Hyrcanus) by an anti-Hasmonaic Pharisee who aimed to "defend Judaism against the attacks of the Hellenistic spirit." The document was seen as an example of rewritten Bible and a precursor of Rabbinic haggadah.
