Leonie Rysanek (1926-1998) was an Austrian opera singer. In the 1970s, she was one of the most celebrated interpreters of Salome in Richard Strauss's opera, on stage and in sound recordings. In her later years, and like many "big" soprano voices, Rysanek reverted to dramatic mezzo-soprano roles and in 1990 she recorded Salome again, this time as Herodias.
