João Ferreira de Almeida

João Ferreira de Almeida (1628-1691) was a Portuguese scholar. He joined the Dutch Reformed Church in Indonesia and began immediately his project to translate the whole Bible into Portuguese. His version of the NT was published in 1681; while the Old Testament he had almost completed by the time of his death was published posthumously in 1719-51.
