'Salome (1937) is a ballet choreographed by Lester Horton--a revised version of Salome (1934 Horton, Montaya), ballet

Abstract

Lester Horton adapted his choreography to dancer Bella Lewitzky, who gave a more athletic and sensuous interpretation of the role of Salome, previously performed by Joy Montaya. When in 1948-49 Lewitsky reprised the role, it was with a new cast and an almost completely revised choreography.
