Marilyn Hirsh (1944-1988) was an American Jewish novelist. Born in Chicago, IL on January 1, 1944. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, spent two years (1965-67) in India as a member of the Peace Corps, teaching English and also working as a writer and illustrator for the Children’s Book Trust in New Delhi. Back in the States, continued her career as children's author and illustrator, incorporating her experience in India and her Jewish heritage into much of her work, written and visual. Died of cancer in New York, NY on October 18, 1988.
