J. Louis Martyn (1925-2015) was an American scholar.Born in Dallas, TX, he graduated from Texas A & M in 1946, receiving his B.D. (1953) from Andover Newton Theological School, and his PhD (1957) from Yale University. J. Louis Martyn is the Edward Robinson Professor Emeritus of Biblical Theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York, from 1967 to his retirement in 1987.
