Peter Beer (1758-1838), scholar
Peter Beer (1758-1838) was an Austrian Jewish scholar, author, educator. Representative of radical Haskalah. Probably first Jew to hold government appointment in Hapsburg Empire (1813). Wrote several works on Jewish history and ethics. Translated Josephus.
