S.L. MacGregor Mathers performing a Golden Dawn ritual

Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers (1854-1918) was a British occultist, and writer. In the 1887 he was one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and became one of the major proponent of Enochian Magic, based on the revelations of John Dee and Edward Kelley
