The Head of Christ (1924-1940) is a painting by Warner Sallman.

The image originated as a charcoal sketch entitled The Son of Man done in 1924 to be the cover of the Covenant Companion magazine. The author did several variations of the picture over the years, and the first oil version appeared in 1935 for the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the Evangelical Covenant Church. In 1940 the students of North Park Theological Seminary asked the author to do what would become the definitive version of the already popular image. The final oil version is at Anderson University, Indiana.
