Jesus Christ Superstar (1971) is an opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber (mus.) and Tim Rice (libr.).

Abstract

The last seven days of the life of Jesus seen through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas Iscariot, who fears that the humanitarian movement with Jesus at his head has become a personality cult. Until Cats finally overtook it, Jesus Christ Superstar held the record as the longest-running musical of all time.
