Augustin Merk (1869-1945) was a German scholar.

Biography

Augustin Merk was born in Achern, Baden in 1869.

In 1888 he joined the Jesuit Order in the Netherlands. He studied Patristics and Philology in Munchen, Germany and Beirut, Lebanon (1903-1907). Since 1928 he was Professor at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome.

Merk died in Rome in 1945.
