  • 1489- Adriano Castellesi (cardinal)
  • 1497 - Voyage of Giovanni Caboto to North America under the commission of Henry VII, King of England. Augustinian Friar Giovanni Antonio de Carbonariis sailed wih him.

    • 1940 (Jun 11) - Nationwide riots against the Italian communities. Thousands of Italian men between the ages of 17 and 60 were arrested.
    • 1940 (Jul 2) - Sinking of the ocean liner Arandora Star. Half of the 700 victims were Italian deportees. It was the "most tragic event in the history of the [British] Italian community".
