Little Women (Alcott)

There were two earlier adaptations during the silent era, in 1917 and 1918 respectively; both are lost.

1917 -- Little Women, directed by Alexander Butler, starring Mary Lincoln (Meg), Ruby Miller (Jo), Muriel Myers (Beth), and Daisy Burrell (Amy).
1918 -- Little Women, directed by Harley Knoles, starring Isabel Lamon (Meg), Dorothy Bernard (Jo), Lillian Hall (Beth), and Florence Flinn (Amy).

The fist TV adaptations were made in the United States, in 1939 and 1946 respectively:

1939 -- Little Women (USA, 1939), directed by Ed Sobol, starring Joanna Post (Meg), Flora Campbell (Jo), Frances Reid (Beth), and Joyce Arling (Amy). <NBC TV film>
