The Diversity of Second Temple Judaism

The Frankel Institute for Advance Studies and the Enoch Seminar invite scholars from all over the world to gather for a conversation about the past, the present and the future of studies in Second Temple Jewish Studies.

The first online conference (January 10-13, 2022) will focus on a retrospective and perspective analysis of the study of second Temple Judaism.

The second online conference (March 2022) will be a seminar on "How to write a History of Second Temple Judaism in the 21st century"


DAY 1 (Monday January 10, 2022)

First session : Italian Scholarship

9:30-10:20 --- KEYNOTE ADDRESS (40 min. + 10 min. Q&A) -- The Contribution of Italian-speaking scholars to the Study of Second Temple Judaism, from the Reformation to the End of the 20th century

10:30-12:30 - PANEL (4 speakers, 15 min. each ) -- Current status and future prospects of research on Second Temple Judaism by Italian-speaking scholars in the 21st century.

Second Session : German Scholarship

1:30-2:20 -- KEYNOTE ADDRESS

The Contribution of German-speaking scholars to the Study of Second Temple Judaism, from the Reformation to the End of the 20th century
