John Turtle Wood (1821-1890), scholar

John Turtle Wood (1821-1890) was a British scholar, architect and engineer. He was sent by the British Museum to Ephesus, to search for the temple of Diana. He spent eleven years (1863-1874) successfully excavating the site.
