Biography

Alan D. Crown was Professor of Semitic studies at the University of Sydney (Australia), where he also earned his PhD.

He was a renowned scholar of Samaritan studies. He was also known for dismissing the popular Essene connection to the site of Qumran, arguing (with his student [Lena Cansdale]]) that the site was instead a caravanserai.
