The Holy Lance refers to the spear that, according to the Gospel of John, stroke Jesus on the cross.
Overview
Christian tradition identified the Roman soldier as Longinus, and legends flourished around his life and deeds. Relics of the spear were venerated in several churches, notably, in Vienna, Armenia, and in the Vatican.
The Spear has taken a life of its own in contemporary Fiction. It has become a magic object at the center of conspiratory theories, often involving Adolf Hitler. Whoever possesses it, will control the entire world.
