Rudolf Pesch (1936-2011) was a German scholar.

Biography

Born in Bonn [Germany] in 1936, Pesch studied at the University of his native town. Since 1970, he was first Professor of Biblical Studies in Frankfurt and then taught NT Exegesis in Freiburg. In 1976 he was Visiting Professor in Jerusalem. Pesch's research focused primarily on the Gospel of Mark and Acts, for which he wrote large commentaries. His last appointment was since 2009 at the Lateran University in Rome, where he died in 2011.
