Guadenzio Orfali (Italy, 1889 - Israel, 1926) - Franciscan priest & Biblical Scholar, active in Israel as professor and director of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum (1938-40, 1950-1963)

Friar Donato Baldi OFM., was a famous Italian Catholic Biblical Professor, Historian and Franciscan Friar. Born in 1888, he worked hard for the development of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem and for its re-opening following the Second World War. He fulfilled the function of Director of the Franciscan Biblical Study in Jerusalem 1938-40 and between 1950 and 1963. His most important studies include the Enchiridion Locorum Sanctorum, published in 1935, and the Historical Biblical Atlas, printed in 1955. Consultant to the Second Vatican Council he authored a popular Holy Land guidebook. Padre Donato passed away in 1965.
