Rapino, Chieti, Italy

Overview

Among the 26 Jews who were confined in Rapino, Chieti, Italy, there were 6 children.

Branko and Mira Glaser arrived on 2 Sep 1941 from Susak, with their parents. Joseph and Michael Hirt also came from Susak with their parents.

Milan Zvijezdic (1926) arrived from Fiume with his mother on 2 June 1942. The last to arrive was Eva Kaufmann (b.1936) in the summer 1943 with her parents.

The Jews of Rapino left the village on 1 Nov 1943. Six of them were captured and perished in Auschwitz. All the others (including the children and their families) survived.

After Liberation, Joseph and Michael Hirt, and Eva Kaufmann emigrated to the United States (Fort Ontario) in July 1944.
