The Exorcist (USA, 1973) is a feature film (sound, color, 122/132m), directed by William Friedkin.

~ Screenplay by William Peter Blatty, based on his 1971 novel of the same name.

~ Film Music by Mike Oldfield, Jack Nitzsche, and Krzysztof Penderecki.

When a 12 year old girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter.

One of the most successful Horror Films of all time follows the demonic possession of a 12-year-old girl by Pazuzu (a demon of the Assyrian mythology). The girl's mother attempts to win her back through an exorcism conducted by two priests. In their struggle to free the girl from the thrall of Pazuzu, both priests perish, but she is eventually saved.

The film was so successful that has generated prequels and sequels.
