The Zodiac is a symbol of the order of the Universe that often appears in mosaic pavements in Hellenistic-Jewish synagogues.

While the image comes from the pagan world, Hellenistic Jews took it as a representation of the Natural Law, of Sophia (Hochmah, Wisdom).

The list of ancient synagogues with the image of the zodiac includes the synagogues of Beth Alpha, Sepphoris, Tiberias, Na'aran, etc.

The zodiac is usually presented within a frame that has at the top the representation of the Temple and at the bottom the Binding of Isaac.
