In the Second Temple period, the Aaronites / Sons of Aaron / House of Aaron are the "priests" of Israel.
Overview
Among the Sons of Levi, only the Aaronites were "priests". The Aaronites were divided in 24 families, each serving in the Temple for a week. 16 families claimed descent from Eleazar, and 8 from Ithamar.
