Edouard Barde (1836-1904) was a Swiss scholar.

Biography

Edouard Bard was born in Geneva on 3 October 1836. His father Charles was a pastor.

After studying theology in Geneva (1856-1860), Edouard completed his studies in Berlin and Tübingen (PhD 1861). He visited to Scotland (Erlangen) and France (Paris). He is a pastor at Vandœuvres (Switzerland) from 1865 to 1879 and professor of New Testament at the theological seminary of the Evangelical Society of Geneva, from 1880 to 1904. Meanwhile, he takes care of the National Evangelical Union of Geneva and the Central Committee of the International Young Men's Christian Unions (president from 1895 to 1904). He was a respected leader of the evangelical wing of the Protestant National Church of Geneva.
