Henry Hart Milman (1791-1868) was a British scholar, poet and playwright.
Biography
Born in London in 1791 in an aristocratic family. Historian, ecclesiastic, poet. Author of the first modern history of the Jews from the earliest period to the author’s time. Treated ancient Jews as an Oriental tribe, downplaying the miraculous aspects of biblical narratives. Died in London and was buried in St. Paul's Cathedral.
