In 9 CE, Emperor [[Augustus]] appointed the cavalry officer Marcus Ambivulus to succeed [[:Category:Coponius (subject)|Coponius]] as the Roman Prefect of Judea and Samaria. No noticeable event is recorded during his tenure, except the death (by natural causes) of [[:Category:Salome I (subject)|Salome I]], sister of [[:Category:Herod the Great (subject)|Herod the Great]], who left some territories to the family of the Roman Emperor [[Augustus]]. In 13 CE [[:Category:Rufus (subject)|Annius Rufus]] took Ambivulus' place.
